The air cooled Volkswagen is a rear heavy car with the rear suspension specified at 60% and the front 40%. Six batteries were placed in the front compartment and the remaining 8 placed in the rear package tray and rear engine compartment. To level the rear of the car heavy duty adjustable coil shocks were installed. With the coil shocks adjusted for maximum lift, the car is level and two inches lower than stock, for that low slung look.
