RUSSCO Electro-Mechanical Engineering was formed in 1976 by
Russ Kaufmann, in the State of California. RUSSCO manufactured
and serviced industrial solid state SCR motor controls from
1 to 600 hp. Applications included water pumping systems,
ski lifts, process lines, and electric bridge, gantry, and
bucket cranes.

In 1982, RUSSCO diversified into the electric vehicle market
and produced a range of electronic DC Motor Speed Controllers,
rated at 400, 500, and 650 amps for applications up to 120 volts.

In 1997, RUSSCO introduced the Electric Vehicle Safety Chargers
in ratings of 1800, 2400, and 3000 watts for battery pack voltages
of 84 to 144 volts. In 2004, the RUSSCO charger line was updated
to provide the most power in the smallest size package at the
lowest cost. RUSSCO SC Chargers continue to be a leader in the
on-road electric vehicle market.
